About Us:

The Public Service Commission is the central human resource agency for the Government of Saskatchewan.

The Human Resource Service Centre (HRSC) provides payroll, human resource and benefits administration services and general HR information support to clients representing all government ministries and a number of smaller organizations.

The Opportunity:

The HR & Client Services Unit of the HRSC has a one-year term opportunity for an HR professional to join our team of Human Resource Consultants.

As a Human Resource Consultant (HRC), you will be client focused and work collaboratively with other HR professionals to support ministry clients in the provision of advice and consultation in the interpretation and application of the Collective Bargaining Agreements, the Saskatchewan Employment Act, and various Letters of Understanding to ensure consistent and effective HR management processes.

Further, you will provide research and consultation in support of clients to ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures and provincial legislation to achieve cohesive management approaches across the province.

Ideal Candidate:

To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Be committed to working collaboratively with a diverse client base to resolve organizational and human resource matters;
  • Have the ability to understand client needs and challenges in a range of environments across the Government of Saskatchewan;
  • Establish and foster a culture of service excellence and building strong working relationships with clients is a critical part of all roles in the PSC. This requires working closely with clients and colleagues to ensure issues are appropriately addressed and situations are managed in a collaborative, consultative and flexible manner; and
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve, influence others and take initiative.

As an HRC, you will:

  • Provide information and support to Government of Saskatchewan managers and employees on a wide range of human resource questions and transactions;
  • Support a number of operational activities related to commencements, terminations, leaves and other HR activities;
  • Interpret and apply provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreements, employer policies and legislation;
  • Investigate and address HR matters; and
  • Provide support for international employees and the related work processes.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:

  • A Business Diploma or Degree (e.g., Human Resources) and with experience in a human resource role;
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered; and
  • A CPHR or IPMA-CP/CS or equivalent designation would be an asset.

Candidates with less experience or qualifications may be considered for an underfill opportunity.
