Position Overview:
Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) is seeking a Communications Specialist (Canada Summer Jobs) to join our Marketing and Communications team for an exciting 8-week remote summer position. This opportunity is ideal for students currently enrolled in a Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications program.
Reporting to the designated supervisor and working closely with departmental staff, the successful candidate will contribute to a variety of communication initiatives, including content development, brand messaging, and both internal and external communications.
This role provides a valuable opportunity to sharpen your professional communication skills, build your portfolio, and contribute to meaningful projects that support Deaf and hard of hearing communities across Canada.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and write compelling content and messaging for both internal and external audiences.

Support the development and execution of brand communication initiatives.

Assist in organizing and maintaining key communications documents, including archives, reports, and project records.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure messaging consistency and clarity.

Contribute creative ideas to enhance engagement and visibility of communication campaigns.

Participate in meetings and contribute ideas for design-related projects or campaigns.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Resides in Mississauga (Peel Region), Ontario.
- Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year of a Journalism, PR, or Communications program.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across various platforms.
- Knowledge of PR strategies and communication techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with or understanding of Deaf, oral deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing communities is an asset.
- American Sign Language (ASL) / or French language skills are considered an asset.
Contract Details

8-week contract during the period of July 07, 2025, to August 29, 2025.

Working 30 hours per week.

Remote Position
Canadian Hearing Services requires you to be legally eligible for employment in Canada (Proof of legal ability to work in Canada will be required if a contingent offer of employment is made.)
