DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You are friendly, helpful and resourceful, knowledgeable about employment legislation, and enjoy supporting management to hire and retain productive, satisfied staff. As a Human Resources Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the human resource functions of the Center align with current legislation and best practices, while supporting the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. As a trusted advisor, this role provides HR guidance, support, and expertise to managers and staff, helping foster a positive workplace culture and addressing HR needs across various functional areas, including legislative compliance and policy development, recruiting, orientation and retention, compensation, leaves and benefits, employee relations, and performance management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
E****ducation:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation is an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Training in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is also an asset.
P****rofessional Experience:
-
Minimum of five years of experience in a similar Human Resource role, preferably in an inter-professional setting and/or a not-for-profit organization.
Key Competencies
-
Knowledge of Employment Legislation: Strong understanding of Ontario's Employment Standards Act, Employment Insurance Act, Pay Equity Act, and relevant legislation for registered health professionals.

HR Best Practices: Expertise in contemporary HR theories, best practices, and trends for effective talent management and employee relations.

HRIS Proficiency: Skilled in HRIS administration and Microsoft Office Suite to streamline HR processes.

Recruitment & Onboarding: Proven ability to implement recruitment strategies and coordinate effective onboarding and retention practices.

Performance Evaluation Knowledge: Familiarity with performance and job evaluation systems to support employee growth.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong organizational skills.

Discretion & Trust-Building: Ability to manage sensitive issues discreetly, fostering trust with employees and managers.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: Strong dedication to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in HR practices.

Analytical Thinking: Proficient in analyzing HR issues and providing strategic recommendations

Proud to be a member of the Alliance for Healthier Communities, we are a community governed non-profit resource centre providing health services, social supports and community development in an inter-disciplinary setting. We serve the constituency of South-East Ottawa, and particularly try to meet the needs of folks with limited access to health and social supports, including newcomers to Canada. Most of our services are free and many of our programs are operated both at our main location (1355 Bank St.) and out in the community. Our second site is EarlyON which serves families in the Heatherington-Fairlea community and our third site is at the Hunt Club-Riverside Community Centre. Programs include drop-ins for breastfeeding, exercises for seniors and everything in between. Check us out at www.seochc.on.ca
