Position Summary:
The Manager, Admissions & Recruiting plays a critical role in identifying, attracting, and onboarding top-tier student-athletes from across Canada and around the world to Athlete Institute’s prep sports programs, primarily focused on Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy. This position combines elements of admissions advising, athletic recruiting, and stakeholder engagement, serving as the primary point of contact for prospective athletes, families, coaches, and advisors throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, highly organized, and passionate about helping young athletes reach their academic and athletic goals. They will build trusted relationships, ensure a seamless admissions experience, and contribute to the continued growth and excellence of the Athlete Institute brand.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Strategy & Outreach

  • Develop and execute a year-round recruitment strategy targeting elite basketball prospects locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Identify, build and maintain strong relationships with grassroots programs, high schools, and international agencies and their talent pipelines.
  • Oversee recruiting touchpoints including official visits, scouting processes, compliance, and athlete onboarding.
  • Represent Athlete Institute at high school showcases, tournaments, international events, and virtual information sessions.
  • Utilize recruitment platforms and internal databases to track prospects and manage the recruitment funnel.

Admissions & Onboarding

  • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective families, guiding them through the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Coordinate applications, academic documentation, athlete evaluations, and financial aid assessments in collaboration with internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, managing deadlines and ensuring compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Oversee onboarding logistics including housing, travel coordination, school integration, and athlete orientation.

Revenue Generation & Program Growth

  • Collaborate with Director of Athletics to develop and execute strategies to grow revenue through camps, clinics, tournaments, and team experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team on merchandising, brand alignment, partnerships, and fan engagement.
  • Support sales strategies and marketing initiatives that drive athlete registration and public engagement.
  • Create new and innovative programming that enhances brand visibility and creates positive athlete experiences.

Relationship Management & Communications

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, supportive relationships with players and families throughout the recruitment journey and beyond.
  • Serve as a liaison with our academic partners, wwith local and international advisors, basketball programs, and placement consultants.
  • Provide ongoing support to athletes and parents regarding academic pathways, visa procedures, and post-secondary opportunities.
  • Deliver compelling presentations about Athlete Institute’s basketball and academic offerings to individuals and groups. Collaborate with Coordinator, Content on presentations and social media content.

Administrative Excellence

  • Maintain a well-organized admissions calendar, tracking outreach efforts, application status, and conversion metrics.
  • Provide regular reporting on recruiting progress, trends, and enrollment data to senior leadership.
  • Assist in planning recruitment events, open houses, and guest visits on campus.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, athletics, or talent identification (preferably in a post-secondary or sports academy environment).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a high level of professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and administrative abilities.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and recruitment databases.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred Assets:

  • Knowledge of prep, NCAA, USPORTS, or international basketball ecosystems.
  • Previous experience recruiting international students or athletes.
  • Fluency in any second language is considered an asset (e.g., Spanish, French, or Mandarin).
