Fort McMurray Catholic School Division (FMCSD) is seeking a highly motivated and community - minded School Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This exciting new role, in partnership with Careers: The Next Generation, will be instrumental in bridging the gap between education and industry, providing our students with unparalleled opportunities for career exploration and development.

Careers: The Next Generation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to connecting students to the world of work through internships, apprenticeships, and career development programs. Their mission is to prepare young people for successful transitions into the workforce.

As the School Engagement Coordinator, you will be the primary liaison between FMCSD schools and Careers: The Next Generation programs and initiatives. You will work closely with school administrators, teachers, students, and industry partners to identify, develop, and promote career - related learning experiences. This role is crucial in ensuring our students are aware of, and actively participating in, the diverse opportunities available to them for future career pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote Careers: The Next Generation programs (e.g., internships, apprenticeships, skilled trades, health care programs) to students, parents, and school staff across FMCSD.
  • Work with school administration and staff to integrate career education and awareness into the curriculum and school culture.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and industry partners to create new work-integrated learning opportunities for students.
  • Plan and execute career fairs, industry tours, guest speaker presentations, and other career-focused events within FMCSD schools.
  • Track student participation in programs, gather feedback, and report on the impact of initiatives to both FMCSD and Careers: The Next Generation.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with all stakeholders, including students, parents, school staff, Careers: The Next Generation representatives, and industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree;
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
  • Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
  • Strong understanding of career development principles and pathways.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the local Fort McMurray labour market is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire.
