Job Summary:
Cornerstone College of Alberta is seeking a dedicated and dynamic instructor/professional to teach FSL to our students.

Job responsibilities:

Create a teaching-learning environment for the FSL Program.

Develop and deliver an effective learning experience using pre-authorized or College's-available course resources.

Incorporate various teaching/learning methods to meet course objectives.

Demonstrate Understanding and adhere to all PTIB requirements and college academic policies.
-
Manage lesson planning, assignments, class, and overall course assessment while ensuring students are aware of course objectives and College’s expectations.

Motivate and guide class discussions, encouraging debate and feedback from students.
-
Challenge ideas, fostering students' skills and knowledge in critical and rational thinking.
-
Motivate students through tutoring and academic counselling, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
-
Provide academic support to students inside and outside of the classroom (regularly scheduled office hours, email, group study sessions, etc.).

Prepare and submit to the Program Manager all relevant data concerning students on a regular basis.
-
Attend and actively participate in department and faculty meetings, in-service training sessions, and relevant programs as required by the Program Manager and Academic Head.

Conduct further research in their specific field for continuous improvement and development to meet the changing needs of the market.

Engage students with a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory workshops, seminars, case studies, and independent or group projects.

Create and develop teaching materials, including audio-visual and web-related materials, where appropriate.

Plan, prepare, administer, and grade papers, tests, exams, and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress.

Maintain effective control and administration of classroom facilities, equipment, materials, software, and tools.

Adhere to College’s policies and procedures, including being available to students and maintaining the confidentiality of students and information.

The instructor must create a positive learning environment by consistently encouraging, motivating, and guiding students to accomplish educational and personal goals, helping them further achieve their professional goals.

Perform other additional administrative duties related to the course requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in FSL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- TESOL certification (e.g., CELTA, TESOL, TEFL) preferred.
- Previous experience teaching French as a Second Language to diverse learner populations, preferably in a college or university setting.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and online learning platforms for blended or fully online instruction.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with English language learners.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values diversity and promotes student success.
- Comprehensive skills in common workplace software, including online teaching techniques like Zoom and Slack.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team.
