About the role

Position: Educational Assistant

Location: Red Deer, AB

Status: Part Time (4 days/week, Tuesday-Friday during the school year)

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the EASE Principal and Teacher/Coordinators, the Educational Assistant is responsible for assisting within the EASE program as assigned to support children’s learning and development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Educational Assistant performs a wide range of duties including the following:

· Work in a classroom cohort

· Work closely with therapists to coordinate specific interventions for individual children and groups

· Lead groups as needed

· Drive children in own vehicle

· Communicate effectively with Teachers, Therapists, Early Learning Facilitators, Behaviour Consultant and other Educational Assistants

· Provide documentation regarding children’s progress

Qualifications

Education and experience

· Degree, diploma, or certificate in a field related to early childhood development

· Additional training in special education an asset

Knowledge, skills and abilities

· Knowledge in child development and family centered practices

· Knowledge regarding interventions applicable to a variety of diagnoses, developmental delays and disabilities

· Experience working with young children who have severe delays or disabilities

· Knowledge and ability to foster teamwork

· High level of communication skills

· Willingness to learn on a highly skilled team

· Ability to utilize play-based learning practices

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • No weekends
