About the role
JOB TITLE: Independent Living Residential Support Worker (ILS), part time, permanent
STEPs on Arthur, a day program/ILS service provider for adults with intellectual disabilities, is seeking to fill one (1) part time, permanent ILS position.
This position will report directly to the Executive Director, or designate, and will be responsible for the provision of ILS client services, in accordance with the mission statement of the STEPs on Arthur Society. The ILS Residential Support Worker must apply practices consistent with a client’s right to Supported Decision Making and Choice.
The successful applicant will require strong interpersonal skills, effective documentation and reporting skills and the ability to prioritize workloads.
This is an hourly position that may require some evenings, weekends and holidays.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING INCLUDES:
A post secondary degree/certificate in the human services field or equivalency
Department of Opportunities and Social Development Core Competency Training.
A minimum of one (1) year working with persons with intellectual disabilities. Previous experience in providing ILS programs would be an asset.
Experience in development of formal programs for behavior change.
A driver’s license is required.
The Independent Residential Support Worker’s position is included in the Bargaining Unit, CUPE #4536. Salary and benefits are as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
