At Summit Valve your hard work does not go unnoticed. We are a Western Canadian based distributor of valves, actuators, and instrumentation products. We need an exceptional Inside Sales Representative to join our team.

What does this mean?

The Inside Sales Manager is a leader within the organization and is responsible for the management of technical and commercial functions of the Inside Sales Department across all Summit divisions. This role must ensure the proper execution of all inside sales tasks from quote to delivery (where applicable), manage and support a team, develop and implement procedural improvements towards greater efficiency and more positive outcomes.

An Inside Sales Manager provides mentorship and guidance to a department with support from the rest of the Management team. In this role you are required to lead by example by communicating and embodying the values of the Company and holding a high standard for quality. Leaders must have a customer service focus; demonstrating a best-practices in sales approach. Leaders must ensure that requirements are met by supporting each department, coaching the team, and facilitating the sales process (in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS/ISO)).

As a Leader the main responsibility of this role is to increase sales, mentor members of the team, and provide a consistent customer experience from province to province.

An Inside Sales representative, regardless of responsibility level, must ensure proper, appropriate, and timely execution of customer RFQs. This includes supporting Inside and Outside sales, applying appropriate sales margins, ensuring accuracy during the quoting stage, achieving a high conversion rate, and ensuring the right tools and systems (QMS) are in place.

The job description and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Team Leadership and Development

  • Hire, train, support, direct, and mentor staff
  • Promote individual learning, growth, and goal setting
  • Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and establish redundancy

Customer Experience and Process Improvement

  • Ensure a consistent and delightful experience across all provinces
  • Lead ‘lessons learned’ meetings to identify areas for improvement, develop corrective actions, and implement process changes.
  • Maintain compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS/ISO) and ensure proper execution of customer RFQs.
  • Promote communication amongst Technical, Procurement, Expediting, and Outside Sales teams to strive for transparency and excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Sales Growth and Strategy Implementation

  • Collaborate with Outside Sales and Sales Managers to develop and execute sales strategies to increase market share and maximize gross margin;
  • Align inside sales activities with sales plans; and
  • Measure and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as RFQ acknowledgements, quote conversion rates, and time-to-quote.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales management, preferably in a technical or industrial sales environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience with a proven track record of managing and developing successful sales teams.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing a successful sales team.
