This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for an Accountant to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Durham location in Sudbury. This role can be in person at our Sudbury or North Bay locations, remote or hybrid.

Under the leadership of the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers and finance teams to track budgets, analyze costs, and ensure financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

START DATE: As soon as possible

LOCATION: Sudbury, North Bay, Remote or Hybrid options available

RATE OF PAY: $75,000 - $85,000 per year

HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Prepare and analyze project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
  • Process invoices, track payments, and ensure timely billing to clients
  • Manage revenue recognition in accordance with accounting principles and contractual agreements
  • Assist in audits and compliance reviews related to project finances
  • Work closely with operations, finance teams, and stakeholders to provide financial guidance
  • Work closely with the funders to make sure all agreement requirements and reporting obligations are met
  • Prepare project cash flows and forecast
  • Lead budgeting inputs for Childcare portfolio working with operations to bring forward annual budgeting templates
  • Support contract administration and financial aspects of project agreements
  • Present financial reports and insights to management
  • Ensure that the balance sheets deferred accounts are reconciled on accurate and timely basis (on a monthly basis) leading into supporting the month end lead sheets for deferred and support of annual audit

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in accounting
  • Proven experience in project accounting, financial analysis, or cost management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAGE Intacct Oracle) and Microsoft Excel
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
