Job Summary
The Accounting Manager/Controller plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, compliance, and internal controls. This position requires a proactive leader with strong people skills, capable of developing team members and driving continuous improvement. The Accounting Manager will lead a team of three direct reports and collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee daily accounting operations: billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support and coordinate internal and external audits.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget and ongoing financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data and trends to guide business planning and performance improvement.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure ongoing compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Develop and enforce internal financial policies and procedures.
- Strengthen internal controls and risk management practices.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three accounting professionals.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members in their growth and success.
- Take initiative to improve processes, team efficiency, and results.
Strategic Collaboration
- Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights and guide strategic decisions.
- Contribute to long-term financial planning, growth strategies, and risk management.
- Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting designation (preferred).
Experience
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar senior accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and audit processes.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a small team.

- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.

Work Environment
- Office-based position located in Stittsville, Ontario.
- Must have reliable transportation to the office. Note: There is no public transportation available.
- Full-time hours with flexibility during financial close or audit periods.
- Compensation: $80,000-$90,000 per year with bonus potential tied to company and department results.
- Group Benefits after 3 months of service.
- 3-weeks paid vacation per year.
