Job Overview:
As a Manufacturing Engineer you are responsible for the processing and implementation of product design releases to meet quality, timing, cost and safety objectives. We welcome applications from Manufacturing Engineering Technologists as well.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Manufacturing Technologist program or degree is preferred.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of practical shop floor experience.
- Thorough understanding of shop floor processes/procedures.
- Good computer skills; knowledge of Excel and Word programs, CAD/Inventor software.
- Electrical knowledge is a definite asset
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem solving abilities.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Familiar with BOM/product structuring.
- Strong problem solving abilities.
- Experience with ISO 9000 certification.
- General knowledge of shop floor safety rules and regulations.
- Capable of sustained physical effort while working with light and medium weight components.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create required manufacturing documentation. Process engineering releases to ensure a cost effective, timely, reliable and safe product introduction.
- Develop shop floor work instructions; including method outline sheets (assembly, welding and paint), job hazard analysis and safe work procedures.
- Conduct product structure and product cost evaluations. Develop continuous improvement initiatives based on observed needs.
- Determine toolage requirements and arrange for toolage development; including holding, lifting, welding and painting fixtures, primary toolage, transport racking, etc. Create toolage drawings when required.
- Complete time study analysis and provide process improvement initiatives.
- Monitor new product launches and track/coordinate product/process improvement actions (CCS process).
- Create cost justifications for new facilities and equipment.
- Liaison with other departments (purchasing, quality, maintenance, production, etc) to ensure timely implementation of engineering releases.
- Review/initiate deviation requests.
- Coordinate tool room and outside tooling suppliers’ activities to ensure a timely implementation of product releases. Coordinate tool prove out.
- Support safety and health initiatives through improvements to facilities, processes and tooling.
- Maintain records and prepare reports related to responsibilities and duties.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Team Lead or Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
