Senior Financial Analyst (15-Month Contract)
About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) plays a critical role in the timely and accurate consolidation of financial results and the preparation of high-quality management and statutory reporting for the organization. This position is responsible for supporting the monthly close process across the group, managing consolidation activities, and contributing to the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting and consolidation expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to engage effectively with stakeholders across multiple subsidiaries. The SFA will also provide system administration support for consolidation tools and contribute to corporate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
In addition to core accounting and reporting responsibilities, this role offers exposure to corporate FP&A and treasury functions, process improvement initiatives, and the opportunity to contribute to the year-end audit process and external financial reporting.
Note: This contract position is to cover for a maternity leave.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting and Consolidations:
- Support the monthly close and consolidation of all group subsidiaries and activities to facilitate the timely and accurate production of management reports
- Prepare routine consolidation journal entries, including elimination entries, corporate cost allocations and fair value adjustments, as well as reconcile inter-company balances
- Perform accounting and close processes for corporately managed holding companies in local accounting software
- Assist with administration and user support related to consolidation systems
Financial Reporting:
- Review and analyze monthly financial results of each group subsidiary
- Participate in monthly operations calls with business leaders, as required
- Prepare consolidated monthly management reporting, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and financial KPIs, for senior leadership team and shareholders
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statement and note disclosure, in accordance with IFRS, including obtaining support schedules from group subsidiaries
- Support year-end audit tasks and external auditor requests
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with the Corporate FP&A tasks such as consolidation of budget and forecast information
- Contribute to new system design, implementation and testing activities
- Support to continuous improvement initiatives such as updating process documentation
- Perform other tasks as assigned
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Specific performance and personal competencies:
- Articulate, straightforward, and succinct with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Well-rounded business acumen and experience in assessing operations and business processes
- Strong analytical, financial and systems skills
- Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and ability to manage competing priorities
- Advanced knowledge of Excel is required and experience with Power BI, Tableau or other data analytics tools would be an asset
- Familiarity with Oracle EPM FCCS (formerly Hyperion Financial Management) or other similar consolidation software would be an asset
- Passion for producing results that have an impact and a desire to advance in the organization
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related area
- CPA designation required
Experience:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in financial close and reporting processes
- Hands-on global consolidations experience is an asset
