Applications Support Technician
About the role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Applications Support Technician to serve as the first point of contact for all IT-related issues within our school division. This pivotal role involves managing customer expectations, setting the organizational standard for customer engagement, and acting as a communication channel between users and the IT department. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, resolving, or escalating hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary contact for technical assistance requests via phone, email, tickets, and in-person inquiries.

Diagnose and resolve issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.

Install, configure, and maintain software and hardware components.

Provide technical support for various devices, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.

Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve network connectivity and system issues.

Maintain and perform IT hardware inventory management.

Support audio/visual equipment, school intercoms, and CCTV systems.

Gather feedback from users to improve IT services and support.

Assist in the setup and support of school events requiring technical assistance.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Qualifications

Diploma in Computer Technology or related field (preferred).
-
Current Microsoft Technology Certifications, as applicable.
-
A+ Certification.
-
Experience working in a Microsoft environment.
-
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification (preferred).

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle daily.

Upon hire, external applicants must supply a Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Search, and a cleared Child Abuse Registry Check, as conditions of employment.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.

Experience with various peripherals, including printers, scanners, and projectors.

Understanding of network operations and protocols.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to adapt to changing technologies and environments.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Physical demands:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Prolonged use of computer mouse and keyboard.

Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Use of hand and powered tools may be necessary.

Unpacking/packaging technology for installation and removal

Ability to work from a step ladder.
Working conditions:
- Exposure to noise and frequent interruptions.
