The Corporate Health Consultant supports the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees by providing expert consultation, policy and program development, and systems-level strategy. This role bridges clinical insight with organizational needs, offering guidance to members, management, HR, legal, unions, and external healthcare providers on health conditions that may affect an employee's ability to perform their duties.

  • Provide consultation on complex medical, psychological, and substance use issues.
  • Interpret medical information to support fitness-for-duty, accommodations, and return-to-work.
  • Liaise with external providers to clarify diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with health legislation (e.g., Alberta OHS Code) and apply best practices.
  • Analyze health data to identify trends and inform planning.
  • Support program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to medical surveillance (e.g., audiometry, BBFE, heavy metals, immunizations) and collaborate with Unit Manager and Nurses to improve, manage, and evaluate programs.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential health records.
  • Deliver training and promote health literacy, and participate in wellness, safety, and disability management initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A designation as a Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, a member in good standing of the related professional body, and 5 years experience with complex medical health conditions, occupational health, disability management, or mental health, preferably in a unionized setting.
  • Preference is given to applicants with a master's degree, as well as those with Occupational/Public Health experience or related credentials.
  • Success in this position requires analytical thinking, change management, coaching and development and efficiency and thoroughness. An effective communicator with a focus on results and the ability to build strong relationships.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 6 months)

Location: 5111 47 Street N.E.

Compensation: Pay Grade 14 $51.84 - 69.28 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
