About St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student can excel academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Resource Coordinator to ensure that our school’s learning resource program meets the needs of our student body. The position is full-time for a one-year term with the possibility of renewal.

Job Description St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School (STA), a Catholic high school in North Vancouver and part of the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA), is seeking a part-time teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This temporary position includes teaching in both the Social Studies and Physical and Health Education departments, with the potential to become a continuing position.

Position Overview The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to foster student engagement in both academic and active learning environments. They will teach Social Studies courses (Grades 8–12) that develop historical and geographic thinking, as well as Physical & Health Education (Grades 8–12) that promote physical literacy, well-being, and teamwork.

Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in Social Studies (Grades 8–12) and Physical & Health Education (Grades 8–12)

Incorporate Catholic teachings and First Peoples Principles of Learning across disciplines

Promote student growth through inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and values-based education

Plan and implement active, inclusive, and safe PHE classes in accordance with BC Curriculum

Build positive relationships and foster respectful learning environments

Collaborate with colleagues in planning, assessment, and school initiatives

Participate in extracurricular programs, contributing to the vibrant life of the school

Qualifications BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)

Relevant degree(s) in Social Studies, History, Kinesiology, or Education

Experience or enthusiasm for teaching both classroom-based and physical education

Knowledge of the BC Curriculum and a commitment to inclusive, faith-based education

Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.

Who We Are The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. About Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA)

The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.

Teachers interested in making a career with CISVA should apply to the Superintendent's Office. Support staff, including Education Assistants, should apply directly to the individual schools.
