ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, is responsible for organizing and coordinating Regional inflow and infiltration programs and construction projects for proposed underground water and wastewater servicing; providing technical expertise, advice, assistance, and guidance with respect to water and wastewater for all Regional construction projects and development applications.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Reviews, comments, and approves detailed engineering drawing submissions concerning underground water and wastewater servicing proposals; and coordinates proposed works with other sections of the Department.
- Reviews and comments on Regional construction projects and development applications with respect to underground water and wastewater servicing.
- Reviews and/or performs water and wastewater modelling, including inflow and infiltration analysis.
- Reviews, comments, and approves water and wastewater reports and detailed engineering drawing submissions and coordinates proposed works with other sections of the Department.
- Provides technical expertise and assistance to Project Managers for Regional construction projects with respect to water and wastewater.
- Assumes the role of Regional technical expert on water and wastewater servicing and provides technical expertise, mentorship, and guidance to staff.
- Ensures that work performed conforms to Regional standards, policies and practises, recognised industry standards and sound safety and engineering principles, in accordance with all applicable laws and governmental requirements.
- Participates in and suggests improvements of quality control and quality assurance measures.
- Schedules, plans, conducts, and leads meetings with developers, consultants, regional and municipal staff, and Councillors as needed, to review Regional requirements and negotiate areas of concern.
- Maintains good relationship management, political sensitivity and diplomacy with colleagues, business associates and other stakeholders.
- Reviews and recommends the financial contributions required from developers, including fees and financial securities for water and wastewater construction activities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in municipal underground water and wastewater servicing design and construction.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration, and personal ownership.
- Demonstrated political acumen and communication/presentation skills to influence/negotiate complex concepts to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to coordinate, plan, implement and evaluate projects for efficient operations and effective customer service.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act in order to travel to offsite work locations.
