About the role

Millar Western Forest Products Ltd.’s Slave Lake Pulp Division is currently seeking a Certified Machinist to join our maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the mill with the safe and reliable repair of process equipment. This position involves setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, fabricating and modifying components, interpreting technical drawings and geometric tolerances, and utilizing precision measuring equipment. The machinist will work closely with other trades to support equipment maintenance and will be actively involved in identifying and implementing improvements to work practices and procedures. This hands-on role requires work in the mill environment and adherence to quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate
The successful applicant will hold a Journeyperson Machinist Certificate and have a minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in an industrial setting. The candidate will be proficient in operating machining equipment and fine-tuning machining parameters. A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required. The role also requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and within a team.
