Position Title: COMMUNICATIONS OUTREACH WORKER
Reports to: Communications and Events Manager
Job Overview
Reporting to the Communications and Events Manager, the Communications Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging in and building relationships with Haisla members, focusing on those aged 55+ and youth under 18. This role develops and implements outreach strategies tailored to the communication preferences of these groups, ensuring they are informed about the organization's services, initiatives, and mission. Using content provided by the Communications team, which includes the Social Media Specialist, the Communications Outreach Worker promotes consistent messaging, encourages participation, gathers community feedback, and supports program development through feedback collected from membership. This position is ideal for someone outgoing, community-focused, skilled in communication and engagement with attention to details.

We are about 2023+ people, with approximately 700 living in Kitamaat Village. We have lived off the land and waters of our traditional territory for thousands of years, and it remains the focus of all we do.
Duties & Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with members aged 55+ and youth 18 and under.
- Represent the organization at events and outreach activities tailored to target demographics.
Communication Strategy Implementation:
- Execute communication strategies focused on outreach to specific age demographics.
- Develop and maintain a contact list that includes communication preferences for both demographic groups.
Outreach Content Delivery & Messaging:
- Utilize content developed by the Communications department to engage effectively with the target audiences.
- Ensure all outreach efforts align with the organization’s messaging standards and brand voice.
Feedback Collection & Program Support
- Facilitate Q&A sessions with membership and collect community feedback at events that can aid in program and service delivery.
- Report insights and suggestions to help inform and adapt programs to meet community needs.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate outreach efforts and support communication initiatives.
Reporting & Evaluation:
- Monitor outreach effectiveness and prepare regular updates for the Manager, Communications and Events.
- Track engagement metrics and participation to assess impact.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven ability to engage with diverse age groups, particularly older adults (55+) and youth (under 18), with sensitivity to their communication styles and preferences.
- Confident public speaker and clear communicator; able to deliver consistent messaging that aligns with organizational branding and values.
- Experience with community-based work, outreach coordination, or member engagement.
- Familiarity with outreach tactics, including face-to-face engagement, email, and telephone; ability to adapt messages to suit different audiences.
- Experience gathering community input through surveys, conversations, or events, and summarizing findings to support program or service planning.
- Able to manage multiple outreach initiatives, maintain accurate contact lists, and meet reporting deadlines.
- Experience with Microsoft, Outlook, Excel, Adobe products, etc.
- Valid BC driver’s license and own vehicle is an asset.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).
Salary Range: $26.50/hr
Position Type: Full-time
