About Kelowna's Gospel Mission
In 1977, a few students from Okanagan Bible School visited Kelowna City Park weekly, offering coffee and conversation to park visitors. As winter approached there was an apparent need to shield vulnerable community members from the cold. The students opened a drop-in centre that grew to be Kelowna's Gospel Mission Society in 1978.
By 1985, we had a soup kitchen, a new emergency shelter, and the thrift store. With this foundation, we are able to advance in our mission to lead our community from homelessness into wholeness.
