Job Description
As a Senior Analyst, Valuations, you will play a critical role in the valuation of complex financial instruments, including derivatives and credit investments. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust valuation models, applying sound judgment in selecting appropriate methodologies, and ensuring valuation governance and transparency. This role requires a strong understanding of capital markets, fixed income instruments, and derivatives, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze large datasets to support valuation conclusions. An interest in leveraging Gen AI to drive process innovation is highly valued.
Team Description
The Valuations Group oversees valuation practices for all asset classes, geographies and strategies to provide assurance that all valuations serve the various business functions and needs across CPP Investments.
Accountabilities:

Lead and support the valuation of public market and credit investments (e.g., CLO, ABS, RMBS), including private credit and derivatives (e.g., interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, options).

Develop and maintain complex valuation models using discounted cash flow, option pricing, and market-based approaches, incorporating credit risk, liquidity premiums, and other relevant factors.

Support the building of dynamic financial models, challenging assumptions, and testing sensitivities.
-
Stratify and analyze large data sets to identify historical performance trends, detect correlations, identify key value drivers, and perform calibration.

Support the preparation of detailed valuation reports and valuation highlights for inclusion in deal team communication, Valuation Committee, Audit Committee, and other board-level reporting.

Assist in thorough reviews and quality assurance checks on valuation work products to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established methodologies and best practices.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging valuation methodologies, and best practices; identify areas for improvement in the valuation processes/frameworks.

Work closely with other CPPIB departments within Finance on a frequent basis, including fair value disclosure requirements and other ad hoc reporting.

Demonstrate a curiosity and passion for emerging technologies, including Generative AI, to enhance valuation processes and drive operational efficiency.
Qualifications
-
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field; progress toward or completion of CFA, FRM, or CPA designation is an asset.

3+ years of experience in valuations, capital markets, or asset management, with a focus on fixed income, credit, or derivatives.

Strong understanding of valuation techniques, including DCF, market comparables, and derivatives pricing models (e.g., Black-Scholes, Monte Carlo simulations).

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Tableau or other visualization tools is an asset.

Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or other market data platforms.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex valuation concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Interest in leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) to improve valuation workflows, enhance data analysis, and support innovation in financial processes.
