Champion Quality and Compliance in CPA Training Programs
(full-time, contract – 12 to 18 months)
CPA Ontario is currently in search of an Employer Relations Officer who will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring and compliance of approximately 300 pre-approved CPA student training programs on an annual basis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring program quality, compliance, and contribute meaningfully to the professional development of future CPAs.
The Employer Relations Officer is a proactive problem-solver, strong communicator, and detail-oriented professional who thrives on collaboration, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Conducting program compliance reviews using a risk-based monitoring approach, ensuring all pre-approved CPA training programs meet established standards and align with the annual monitoring plan.
Investigating and resolving potential non-compliance issues, engaging directly with program leaders, managers, mentors, and students to resolve issues, clarify expectations and support best practices.
Preparing clear and concise reports including formal conclusion letters, stakeholder communications, and a year-end summary report, followed by a debrief session with senior management.
Leading process improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and implementing enhancements to the monitoring program.
Planning for the future by developing the following year’s monitoring plan informed by insights and findings from the current year.
Supervising and reviewing the work of a program coordinator, providing mentorship and ensuring quality deliverables.
Supporting additional projects and initiatives as needed in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Who You Are:
A CPA in good standing with at least 3 years of post-designation experience, and a degree and/or diploma in a relevant field.
Experienced in audit within public practice, corporate, or government environments, with a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks.
Clear and confident communicator with the ability to build relationships, present effectively, and resolve sensitive issues collaboratively.
Analytical and detail-oriented, with sound judgment and the ability to assess complex training program standards.
Highly organized and adaptable, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and understand how experience data should be captured in the PERT platform.
