Smythe LLP is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Senior Manager - International Tax with solid tax planning and compliance experience to join our growing practice in our downtown Vancouver office. We are seeking a leader to grow our International Tax practice, with the long-term potential for partnership.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – International Tax to join our Canadian Tax team, focusing on tax advisory and compliance services for foreign owned businesses operating in Canada and Canadian business operating abroad. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cross border tax legislation, experience advising multinational corporations, and the ability to lead and manage complex tax engagements.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide tax services to multinational corporations on inbound investments into Canada, including structuring advice and compliance services.

Lead and manage cross-border tax projects, including advising on EIFEL, FAPI and surplus calculations, foreign reporting, withholding tax, and tax treaty interpretation.

Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations for clients with cross border activities.

Identify and implement tax-efficient strategies for cross-border transactions and structuring.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and finance teams.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior tax professionals.

Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- CPA, CA, designation.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Canadian tax, with a focus on cross border taxation.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax laws, and tax treaties.
- Experience managing complex tax projects and working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
