About the role

We are looking to add an experienced Pension Administrator to join our talented and hardworking team. This full-time role will ideally be based in our Toronto office, but candidates in our locations such as Winnipeg, Halifax or Fredericton will also be considered . The ideal candidates will have at least three years of experience with defined benefit pension administration and thrive on providing superior customer service in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare termination, retirement and death benefit packages for members of defined benefit pension plans
  • Prepare authorization of benefit payments
  • Prepare family law value calculations
  • Support the preparation of plan member statements, reports and regulatory filings
  • Calculate Pension Adjustments (PAs), Pension Adjustment Reversals (PARs), and Past Service Pension Adjustments (PSPAs)
  • Review and analyze membership data
  • Maintain and update pension plan databases with member information
  • Reconcile member data including, annual member movements, data changes and contributions
  • Liaise with fund custodian for payment authorizations and stop payments
  • Respond to inquiries from members, employers, and other stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
  • Adhere to quality standards and best practices
  • Learn plan provisions and administration policies for assigned clients
  • Stay current with relevant laws and rules concerning pensions across Canada

What you offer

  • 3+ years of pension administration experience
  • A degree or diploma in Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, including use of various Excel functions and Word merge
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of pension legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Willingness to take ownership of assigned clients, setting and meeting required deadlines

What would get us super excited!

  • Bilingual in French/English
  • CEBS or PPAC designation, or an RPA designation
  • Experience with streamlining or automating processes
