The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable Communications Specialist to join our team. This position is a one-year contract, with long term potential. Based in Calgary and reporting to the SVP, Legal & Corporate Services, this role will be instrumental in shaping and delivering on our internal and external communications needs.
As a key member of the Corporate Services team, you will collaborate with leaders and business teams to create compelling content, support business-specific communication strategies, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen our culture, employee engagement, and brand reputation. This role also includes supporting crisis communications and ensuring consistency in our messaging.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans that support corporate and operational priorities
- Partner with leaders and teams to craft engaging, purposeful communication that aligns with company values and enhances culture
- Lead the development and delivery of internal communications, including newsletters, employee messages, intranet content, and business updates
- Plan and support quarterly town halls, including content development, and managing logistics
- Contribute to external communications including website content, social media, stakeholder messaging, and media responses
- Ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all platforms and channels
- Manage and maintain content for the company’s intranet and external website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and timeliness
- Play a key role in crisis and emergency response communications, collaborating with the Emergency Response Team and Legal to ensure timely and accurate information
- Support the development and publication of the annual Sustainability Report, working closely with subject matter experts to deliver clear and compelling content
- Assist in drafting internal and external-facing policies and communications in collaboration with business stakeholders
- Organize and manage digital media assets, including videos, photos, logos, and other brand materials, ensuring they are current, accessible, and consistently aligned with our standards
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in corporate communications
- Strong background in digital communications and content development
- Experience in the energy sector would be an asset, particularly with exposure to crisis communication or operational environments
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to adapt writing tone and style to suit a variety of audiences and channels
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence through a consultative approach
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and SharePoint; experience managing intranet platforms and content hubs
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- Familiarity with video or multimedia content creation for internal communications
- Interest or experience in leveraging AI tools to drive efficiencies in the Communications function
