About the role

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the F&B Supervisor, this position is responsible for seating guests in a friendly and professional manner and providing food and beverage service while maintaining and recording daily sales on the P.O.S system. This position may be performed in a restaurant, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a special event, or other areas. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers in an upbeat, positive and professional manner;
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items available at the restaurants;
  • Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
  • Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter. Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy;
  • Help to maintain clean service areas.
  • Be knowledgeable with the current food and beverage programs, incentives and customer concerns by regularly liaising with the F&B Manager and Supervisor;
  • Answer general questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services in the premise.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the F&B Manager and Supervisor.
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests,ownership and employees)
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Qualification Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent working experience;
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Server or Beverage Host experience required
  • Previous cash handling and P.O.S system experience an asset;
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, customer service and communication skills;
  • Ability to professionally handle situations that may arise due to intoxicated guests
  • Ability to obtain NB Responsible Beverage Certification
  • Bilingualism in English and French as asset
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Work Environment Considerations

  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
