CultureSmith has partnered with a Highstreet Ventures Inc. on their current search to add a new VP, Finance & Accounting to the group.

Highstreet is leading the industry in designing and building apartments and condos that have a minimal impact on the environment. We’re building Carbon Free Homes™ that are 75% better than building code minimum with a warranty that is double the industry standard. They currently have homes under construction in Calgary, Kelowna, Langford, Parksville and Westbank First Nation.

Highstreet also manages its own growing portfolio of 1,300+ rental apartments with some of the highest customer service scores in any industry and supports community members going through tough times with their “Live Right Guarantee”.

Role summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP, Finance & Accounting will work closely with the Leadership Team to implement and execute their strategy and vision.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Leadership, management and accountability for finance and accounting team
  • Financing and debt management
  • Legal oversight including corporate structure and investor reporting
  • Insurance
  • Long term cash forecast
  • Systems and processes in finance and accounting

What does success look like?

  • Lead a highly engaged team that loves where they work.
  • Have the simplest, most efficient and effective processes that make us easy to work with.
  • Deliver financials and budget reviews on agreed schedule every month.
  • Estimates should be approximately right, not precisely wrong and numbers that need to be 100% accurate, always are.
  • A deep understanding of the business, with the ability to know, at a glance, if financial information makes sense.
  • Understand market values in all our markets.
  • Provide insight on financial information to the Leadership Team.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • CPA designation.
  • At least 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of five years in a in a VP or CFO role.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to think innovatively and drive positive change.
  • Ability to see risks and opportunities behind financial data and act as a strategic business partner.
