The opportunity:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Financial Analyst. This position will be responsible for conducting regular monitoring of the revenues, expenses and fund transfers of General Operating FOPs. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will assist with the preparation of General Fund forecasts for internal and external financial reporting purposes and assist with the preparation of quantitative and qualitative reports.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- A University degree is required, preferably with a major in accounting or finance.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum level of Core 2 of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Two years of experience in an accounting-related position is required, where knowledge of accounting theory and practice and a working knowledge of computer systems has been acquired.
- Experience with budget development and experience analyzing, forecasting, reviewing, and providing recommendations on previously-developed budgets is required.
- Experience communicating financial information to non-financial staff and faculty is required.
- Experience advising on financial best practices, policies and procedures is required.
- Experience working in a complex, integrated computer and information system environment and a working knowledge of computer produced data is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be skilled in the use of a personal computer with proficiency in using advanced features associated with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
- Ability to prepare complex financial information with close attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Must have ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
