About the role

Responsibilities

DFIN/ALM (Asset Liability Management) is responsible for managing all structural risks (liquidity, interest rate risk, FX risk) on the Combined US Organization balance sheet for Societe Generale in compliance with US regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities include daily management of liquidity and forecasting potential liquidity needs based on business line projections and money market desk activity, building and maintaining a contingency funding plan for the US, monitoring US liquidity buffers and associated cost of carry, managing and hedging interest rate risk, interfacing with the second line (liquidity risk department), the third line (internal audit), and the regulators on liquidity and IRR management topics.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Liquidity Monitoring / Analysis:
    • Producing monthly and quarterly analysis on liquidity buffer cost and cash-flow forecast backtesting
    • Assisting in any ad-hoc analysis requests that relate to the liquidity reports
    • Interacting frequently with liquidity production team, liquidity risk team and business heads
    • Assisting in monitoring variances in liquidity position through daily reports and funding calls
  • Interest Rate Risk in Banking Book Monitoring/Analysis (IRRBB):
    • Analyze monthly interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB) sensitivities from earnings and economic value perspectives
    • Produce quarterly backtesting on net interest margin.
  • Balance Sheet Monitoring/Analysis:
    • Produce monthly net due to due from report
    • Monitor SGFC/SGMFC balance sheet quarterly
    • Monitor FRY15 KRI exposure monthly
  • Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Helping to automate manual reports in Excel (knowledge of VBA is a plus)

    • Following up with data enhancements and system projects

    • Performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on data enhancements, projects, and models

    • Assisting the team in internal audit reviews and responding to questions from regulators

Please note that for the missions outside the European countries, a VISA is necessary. Please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure. Otherwise, we strongly advise you to launch asap the renewal of your passport.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master degree from Business with emphasis on economics, finance, and/or accounting preferred

  • Knowledge of financial products (derivatives, equity and fixed income securities, structured products, commercial papers, etc.)

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets

  • Able to organize work efficiently and to work self-sufficiently

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point)

  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.), knowledge of VBA/python/Alteryx a plus

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Experience with regulatory reporting or audit a plus, but not necessary

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months. The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.
