Job summary: As Assistant Project Manager, Mechanical and Electrical, you are responsible for supporting the M&E Manager in providing oversight for the execution of mechanical and electrical scopes, by performing all functions and responsibilities in consonance with the company’s values and beliefs.
Duties:

Assisting the project team in executing planning, support and closeout
-
Validating design through collaboration with the Design Manager and Consultants
-
Planning the sequence of schedule with the Superintendent and monitoring progress, reviewing mechanical and electrical RFI’s and shop drawings and administrate mechanical/electrical project completion requirements

Providing support to Project Manager and Superintendent to drive all on-site mechanical & electrical activities to comply with specifications, requirements and codes
-
Providing support in risk evaluation, mitigation planning and management
-
Assisting in bid validation, leveling, reviewing budgets, costs and proposals

Providing support to the Project Management team in contract & scop e development, evaluation, assessment and mediation
-
Providing high-level support to the trades; commissioning agent, any 3rd party or commissioning authority t complete their scope

Supporting the monthly progress report, collecting from subcontractors and providing a look-ahead of commissioning activities

Following up on open M&E deficiencies and driving them to closure

Working collaboratively with electrical/mechanical/controls subcontractors to ensure project and team success

Assisting in monthly project M&E performance reporting for Project Director
-
Ensuring safe working conditions are provided and safe work practices employed at all projects
-
Ensuring QA/QC plans are aligned and followed onsite

Refining internal processes and templates
-
Assimilating project lessons learned
-
Integrating Canada wide departments with BC M&E including EDS, Construction Sciences etc.
Requirements:
- A University degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or a construction related field is required
- 2-5 years of experience working on M&E Field related scopes of work on a construction project
- Experience working as a project manager, supervisor or assistant superintendent on a construction project
- You have an advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings
- You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes, produce workable solutions and lead a large team to successful completion
- Work requires moderate physical exertion, visual and/or auditory concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting
Working Conditions: Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. Some health and safety risks. May require safety equipment and precautions.
