The Safety Administrator will oversee the client's Canada safety programs in order to provide co-workers, contractors, vendors, and visitors a safe work environment. This role helps to ensure compliance with standards set by all Canadian governmental agencies and reduces any liability for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Pinkerton’s core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
  • Ensure all written safety programs required by Canadian standards are written and up to date.
  • Assist with the establishment of the office Safety Committees and Emergency Response Teams/Fire Wardens for each office.
  • Ensure that office environments are free from hazards by conducting weekly walkthroughs.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections and testing including fire extinguishers and fire equipment.
  • Document all safety observations and feedback and provides a summary at safety meetings.
  • Develop and conduct safety training for all coworkers and contractors.
  • Meet routinely with the US Safety team to discuss projects and reports on status.
  • Partners with the United States Business Continuity team to ensure the Canadian program documentation is completed.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as injury, fire, severe weather, spills, flood, workplace violence, and other similar types of business interruptions covered in the client's Business Continuity Program (BCP).
  • Conduct incident investigations, complete the required documentation and work with the Co-Worker Services Team and Operations leadership to prevent reoccurrence.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications Degree in occupational health & safety with at least three years of experience overseeing a Canadian company safety program.

  • Certified Safety Professional, preferred.
  • Understanding of physical security equipment and procedures for office buildings, preferred
  • Knowledge of safety program management, safety committee involvement, and business continuity training and/or programs, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Safety Regulations.
  • Certified to administer 1st Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Hazard recognition and abatement skills.
  • Ergonomic assessment skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently while being able to shift priorities quickly.
  • Effective written and verbal skills with the ability to interact with all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Able to influence and train others.
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office.
