The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association is currently seeking an ambitious, high energy and dynamic Site Manager, Laboratory Operations to join our team in supporting EORLA's Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) and Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) sites.

As the ideal candidate, you will be responsible for inspiring and engaging team members to contribute positively to the patient experience. You will provide day-to-day operational management to the laboratory site by interpreting corporate operations strategies, and developing and implementing site goals and objectives for the delivery of high quality, efficient and timely laboratory services ensuring compliance with policies, operating plans and processes that affect quality improvement, risk, regulatory compliance, satisfaction and safety.

What does a Site Manager do?

  • Leads a team of laboratory professionals and collaborates with the lab director and member hospital key stakeholders to foster an environment of quality patient care;

  • Implements strategic initiatives at the department level by effectively deploying resources, creating a working environment that promotes effective team building and continuous process improvement;

  • Has a willingness to develop managerial experience in human resources management, labour relations, financial management, project management, process management, facilitation, change management, conflict resolution, health administration, and health care law;

  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of accreditation standards, provincial regulations and standards related to the provision of laboratory services and regulatory reporting;

  • Keeps apprised of issues, trends and best practice initiatives as they pertain to quality, risk and the effective delivery of laboratory medicine in order to make recommendations to the operations strategic model.

What is EORLA?
EORLA is a member-owned, non-profit organization encompassing the operation of 18 licensed, acute-care, hospital-based clinical laboratories that service clinical programs across the Champlain Region of Eastern Ontario. EORLA laboratories provide diagnostic testing to both hospital inpatients and registered outpatients, performing a total of over 15 million tests annually. Comprehensive testing in the disciplines of Diagnostic Molecular Pathology, Biochemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, and Microbiology/Virology is performed.

Basic Requirements

Who is right for this position?

  • A proven leader who has completed a Registered Medical Laboratory Technology program and who is a member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);

  • Minimum of seven years of previous experience with a minimum of two years in a MLT Charge position or other leadership role;

  • Experience in human resources management, financial management, project management and change management;

  • Sound knowledge of relevant accreditation standards, hospital practices and procedures as they pertain to the provision of laboratory medicine, standards of practice and relevant regulations;

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of all disciplines and processes of laboratory medicine;

  • Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills;

  • Highly motivated;

  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to foster a positive culture;

  • Demonstrated organizational skills;

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle as travel between laboratory sites will be required.

As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hour shifts. On-call will be required. For information purposes only - EORLA reserves the right to change.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications that stand out:

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration or Business Administration;
  • Experience working as part of the healthcare system;
  • Bilingual (French and English) is considered an asset.

EORLA laboratories provide diagnostic testing to both hospital inpatients and registered outpatients, performing a total of approximately 12 million tests annually. Comprehensive testing in the disciplines of Anatomic Pathology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, and Microbiology/Virology is performed.

All EORLA laboratories are accredited by Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) and The Ottawa Hospital Tissue Typing Laboratory is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatability and Immunogenetics (ASHI).

Laboratory staff includes over 800 Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants along with approximately 65 Medical/Scientific staff.
