Responsibilities
- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends. Interpret field and laboratory test results from ground investigations to support design purposes and prepare related reports (e.g., Geotechnical Baseline Reports).
- Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Create proposals for the selection of exploration-well locations by overseeing all aspects of geological/geophysical modeling and leading the data interpretation process.
- Reservoir Characterization and Analysis: Analyze and integrate reservoir engineering data, including results of flow tests and well tests and historical production performance. Prepare and arrange the project database for reservoir engineering characterization and simulation.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
- Knowledge Management: Implement policies and processes, collect best practices, write case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices and to support the practice.
- Data Management: Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.
- Technical Developments Recommendation: Discuss and recommend more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Manage technical troubleshooting projects, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions.
- Research: Achieve specific goals for a designated part of a research program. Involves working within established research systems.
- Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
- Exploration Plan Development: Design and implementing complex exploration plans.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, geological or civil (geotechnical/geostructural) engineering or Equivalent Level
- Possess a Professional Engineer License (P. Eng)
Experience
- General Experience: Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience in geotechnical/geostructural engineering field to fully competent level. (Over 6 years to 10 years)
- Managerial Experience: Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues (7 to 12 months)
- Experience in major alternate delivery mode infrastructure projects, construction engineering and complex geostructural design including retaining walls, deep foundations, deep excavations, underground infrastructures, roads and bridges structures and high-rise buildings with deep basement founded level
- A high level of proficienc y with advanced 2D and 3D static and dynamic soil-structures interaction and geostructural design software such as Plaxis 2D et 3D, FLAC2D et 3D, Roc Science (RS2/RS3, RSpile, Slide2/3), DeepXcav, ENSOFT (LPile, Group), Geostudio (SlopeW, SigmaW, SeepW)
- A high level of understanding on geostructural design including analytical, empirical and numerical methods and also advanced knowledge in soil and rock mechanics and structural elements, such as steel and plain and reinforced concrete elements. This includes numerical modeling constitutive models and structural elements to be implement in soil-structures and geostructural stress-strain analysis for design
- Ability to lead and cooperate with a team in various environments, as well as work independently
- Strong written and oral communication (English) skills
- Strong analytical/technical, project management and report writing skills
- Desire to provide excellent practical client service and a commitment to technical excellence; and,
- Must be well organized, have the ability to manage and prioritize several
