About the role

The Direct Insurance, Commercial Lines Division is booming thanks to its ambitious growth plan for the next few years. That’s why we’re looking for a commercial lines property and casualty insurance agent to help us improve the experience for our business members and clients based on their company’s stage of life. You’ll be called upon to assess the specific needs of each member or client and offer them the benefit of your advisory role by helping them choose the right coverage while promoting our personalized services. Your mission will be to develop business relationships with Desjardins and to be our members’ and clients’ # 1 choice. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Serve business members and clients, understand and assess their needs, analyze the risk, advise them on coverage choices and promote insurance products
  • Prepare quotes and issue insurance contracts
  • Analyze specific underwriting files and make recommendations to the parties concerned
  • Respond to information requests, amend contracts and follow up as needed to maintain profitable growth
  • Develop a business partnership that encourages referrals

What you bring to the table

  • College diploma in a related field
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a P&C insurance agent
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Representative’s certificate in personal or commercial lines P&C insurance from the Autorité des marchés financiers
  • Expert-level knowledge of French is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays on a rotating basis
