About the role
Overview Come join the Intuit Design Systems team as a Senior Software Developer (Front End). As part of the Intuit Design Systems team, you'll be building industry-leading design system tools and services that empower designers and developers to create unified experiences across Intuit. You can expect to get your hands on any part of the technical stack, which may include building services, improving tooling, or UI/component development.
Intuit has embraced a hybrid way of working. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working from our Toronto office 3 days per week.
What you'll bring
- 6+ years experience developing web, software, or mobile applications.
- 2+ year experience with web services (REST).
- BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.
- Strong fundamentals of modern Web frameworks & development practices, e.g. React, Webpack, HTML/CSS/JS, etc.
- Experience with any of the following Object Oriented Languages (OOD): Java/J2EE, C#, VB.NET, Python, or sometimes C++.
- Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and their practical application.
- Experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
How you will lead
- Gathering functional requirements, developing specifications, and project & test planning
- Designing, developing, and delivering high quality web or mobile apps (requirements, design, code, documentation, etc.)
- Act in a leadership capacity: mentoring junior engineers, new team members, and applying technical expertise to challenging programming and design problems.
- Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches
- Roughly 70-85% hands-on coding
- Partner effectively with all team members to deliver against commitments
- Work cross-functionally with various Intuit teams: product management, design, or business units to drive forward results
- Contribute to the design and architecture of projects
- Commitment to team success and positive team dynamics
- Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, and/or Extreme Programming methodologies
