This opportunity
Reporting to the Coordinator Food Services, this position is responsible for the provision of food services to the residents and staff in Continuing Care facilities; including the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, while maintaining a high standard of sanitation and safety in the kitchen and other related duties as required.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Journeyman Cook Certification (Red Seal)
- Recent experience preparing meals for individuals and/or groups in a commercial or Institutional setting (such as hotel, restaurant, camp, catering or cafeteria setting (fast food restaurant not included)
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

Knowledge of food preparation, serving and storage (Food safe)

Ability to understand written and oral instructions

Ability to work in a team environment

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
TB screening, RCMP security clearance with Vulnerable Sector, Food Safe Level 1 (completed within the last two years), WHMIS 2015
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Exposure to animals in the Pet Therapy program, exposure to plants and/or flowers and/or second-hand smoke, exposure to latex products, shift work and weekends, heavy lifting and bending.
