The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association is a non-profit organization.
Our Mission is “to create a prosperous destination that is clean, safe and vibrant, where a diverse community of businesses and residents live, work and play.”
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Summer Ambassadors will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and member satisfaction at the summer event projects. Ambassadors have the responsibility of scheduling, compiling reports and ensuring programs are continually progressing throughout the summer and completed in a successful matter.
Given the non-profit nature of our organization and the extremely limited resources available, this position would not exist without the financial assistance of the Canada Summer Job Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaise with the Executive Director and Events & Marketing Manager to gather information, promotion, scheduling, and launch events.
- Assist with preparation, follow through on each event and after care.
- Assist with recruitment and supervision of volunteer team for summer activities.
- Assign specific tasks to the volunteer assistants on a regular basis.
- Create a daily schedule to achieve completion of all required tasks.
- Encourage and monitor Downtown merchant participation, by personal interaction.
- Input information for daily, weekly and monthly activity reports, submitted to ED.
- Keep track of what’s happening with other downtown-events, programs, activities etc.
- Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and Events & Marketing Manager, to promote and organize Summer Events in Downtown Maple Ridge. This includes organizing supplies and equipment required to present events.
- Assist in creating final Summer Event stats, reviews and reports.
- Act as primary contact person during the event and communicate with participating businesses.
- Liaise with Downtown Businesses, CAP Team, Media and various City of Maple Ridge departments throughout the Summer, assuring successful completion of all tasks.
- Assist ED and BIA Staff with other duties as required.

The Summer Ambassadors will develop or enhance a variety of transferable employability skills while performing duties and responsibilities with the DMRBIA, including but not limited to:
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Professional attitude and friendly demeanour.
- Strong team working skills.
- Ability to interact with others, participate in and complete projects and tasks.
- Communicate effectively (written and oral).
- Ability to listen effectively to determine and satisfy needs of others.
- Good organizational skills, with an eye for details
- Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently.
- Work effectively in a Team environment.
- Ability to take initiatives, be responsible and accountable for actions.
- Good problem solving and resource management skills.
- Ability to establish and meet goals and willing to continuously learn.
- Good working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications as well as various types of office equipment. Ability to manage information using appropriate technology and information systems.
- Develop a working knowledge of retail operations and marketing concepts.
Starting date: June 23, 2025
Number of hours: 30 hrs / per week (may include some weekends and/or evening hours)
Wage : $18 / per hour
