Position Summary
The Clinical Extern position will provide Nursing students with relevant experience in patient care while working in a collaborative team environment. Clinical Externs are unregulated healthcare providers and will work as part of an interprofessional team under the supervision of regulated healthcare providers. The Clinical Extern collaborates with the team to provide excellent patient-centred care.
Qualifications:
- Current students enrolled in a Level 2, 3 or 4 of the BScN program, or Semester 3 or 4 of a PN program recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of patient populations within a hospital setting
- Demonstrated ability to follow BCHS policies and procedures to guide their clinical practice.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift using appropriate techniques and bend, push and pull using good body
