Description The Operations Trainer is responsible for providing onboarding training for employees in the Centre of Excellence and/or regional Purolator locations. The trainer will partner closely with key stakeholders including L&D,Operations, and Human Resources to identify and deliver refresher training opportunities for new and existing employees. This role will provide coaching, mentoring, and evaluation and will be influential in building and developing our team.
Responsibilities
- Facilitation of existing standardized training, ensuring compliance, and facilitating inappropriate manner, is done independently
- Influence and decision-making ability to make an employment recommendation for a new employee based on training results in consultation with Ops and the L&D Consultant
- Provide recommendations to Ops on current employees and whether they can meet job requirements i.e. driver training
- Provide transactional & leadership coaching to Unit Managers
- Collect feedback from Employees and Line managers about training and make recommendations for changes in content or process
- Delivery of in-class/virtual training for front-line operations employees
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate employees on proper job performance procedures and standards, such as practical demonstrations, ride-a-longs (route rides), competency-based evaluations (All operations groups)
- Provide specialized training in transportation and logistics
- Provide transactional coaching and leadership coaching for Unit Managers
- Responsible for maintaining and updating all training records within the Learning Management System (LMS) for all operations employees that fall within their responsibility
- Scheduling and logistics for new employees
- Supporting Operations on the job and supporting seasonal trainers
- Lead compliance and regulatory training for the Ops groups they support
- Provide ongoing input on training programs based on feedback from Operations, HR, and employees to make improvements in training content and processes
- Travel may be required
- Required to work varying shifts (days, afternoons, nights, weekends) depending on operational requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Experience
- Completion of Specialized Courses Normally Taught in Community or Recognized Specialty Colleges Consisting of About Three Academic Years - Completion of courses required for recognized certification, diploma, or license
- 2 to 3 years experience in a trainer role to front line managers and employees, experience teaching adults
- 2-3 years of experience in the training field practicing Adult Learning Principles
- Knowledge of Purolator’s Operations procedures would be an asset
- Bilingualism is required for roles in Quebec
- Must successfully pass written and road test(s)
- Must complete/have completed Purolator’s Defensive Driving and Courier Methods and Procedures course
- A valid non-probationary Driver's License
- Must either attend or have attended Purolator’s Train the Trainer Program
- Clean Driving Abstract (please upload a current driver's abstract with your resume)
- Specialized training in Transportation and Logistics preferred
- Understanding of Adult Learning Principles. A diploma or certificate would be required
- Experience with digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams and WebEx would be required
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate employees on proper job performance procedures and standards
- Experience providing Coaching to line managers (UMs)
- Extensive knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WebEx, and Outlook
- Proven strong presentation skills to a varied audience
- Ability to work independently or in groups to achieve training goals
- Prior experience influencing/collaborating front line operations to achieve compliance with training goals
