ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR (BAND LEVEL 8) Office of Development and Alumni Engagement

(Two-Year Contractual Position)

The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approval DUTIES Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni Engagement, the Alumni Engagement Coordinator will perform professional work related to alumni engagement. The incumbent will have a specific focus on supporting the work of the Alumni Engagement Officer, as well as being responsible for identified key initiatives. Stewarding Transforming Our Horizons, the pan-university strategy, along with the alumni engagement strategy, the successful applicant will develop, plan, and implement strategic activities, programs, and initiatives that enhance Memorial’s connection to its alumni through programming and activities.

Working within the alumni engagement team, the incumbent will establish and maintain an annual calendar of alumni engagement initiatives. The incumbent will focus on related project management, contract management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of project deliverables, milestones, and financial commitments. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening Memorial’s alumni relationships; supporting the planning and implementation of initiatives under the direction of the Alumni Engagement Officer; interacting with corporate partners, Memorial’s faculty and staff, and volunteers (of all ages and positions); working with Marketing and Communications to ensure effective electronic and print communications to promote initiatives; providing input into procedure manuals for all initiatives; and performing other related duties as required.

This position is fast paced and requires the ability to multitask. The job may require travel, event set-up and take-down (which may involve lifting), and occasional evening and weekend work.

Qualifications Experience (3-5 years) in program support, administration and/or event execution; completion of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. A working knowledge of databases; sound knowledge of budget management; and proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing (specifically MS Word and Excel) are essential. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and a creative thinker who can suggest solutions to challenges and will demonstrate initiative and strength in program administration (planning, budgeting and evaluation), relationship building (including people from various demographics), exceptional communication and time-management skills. The incumbent will also demonstrate basic research abilities and comfort with social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn). Experience working with students or alumni, as well as general knowledge of Memorial University, alumni relations, and an understanding of the concept of development, would be considered assets.

SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
