Position Summary

The Health First Department is currently seeking two [2] Permanent Part-Time Secretaries to join their team.

Effective Date: July 14, 2025

Department/Unit/Program Description

Health First is a Chronic Disease Prevention & Management program at Ross Memorial Hospital that offers a variety of outpatient services to assist clients and families living with a chronic disease.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years recent office/outpatient experience
  • Successful completion of Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent from a community college
  • EPIC Certified (or willingness to train) and advanced computer and information management skills are essential
  • Competent and confident in patient registration
  • Superior organizational skills, with planning, attention to detail, accuracy, follow through and time management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent telephone manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient and clinic scheduling
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Ability and needs demonstrated to work with patients and families dealing with chronic disease
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and work as part of a team as the situation demands
  • Previous experience in an outpatient clinic required
  • Demonstrated ability to deal professionally, co-operatively and effectively with physicians and all levels of staff and the public
  • Working knowledge of clinical transcription
  • Typing of 50 words/min (testing required)
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of or commitment to complete a course in Medical Terminology
  • Experience in development of education packages and brochures

Hours of Work

Must be available to work eight (8) hour day shifts, Monday through Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
