JOB SUMMARY:
Lantic Inc is currently recruiting a Shift Team Leader, Processing to be based at our Montreal refinery. The position reports to the Refining Manager. The Shift Team Leader, Processing is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and coordinating all operations in order to maintain a constant production and ensure the production of products corresponds to quality standards. The incumbent must also support the department (operators and attendants) in the execution of their tasks and see to the smooth running of operations. The Shift Team Leader must respect, within the scope of his/her duties, the Occupational Health and Safety policies in effect, the current good operating practices and the food safety policies in effect.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the physical integrity of the employees from the departments as well as compliance of the norms related to Health & Safety in the workplace and the company’s policies;
- Make sure the prevention and Health & Safety Management plans are applied and maintained;
- Ensure compliance of deadlines and corrective measures following an incident or an accident;
- Apply the locking procedure in the confined space entrances and the emission of hot work;
- Maintain the proper functioning of the refining operations necessary for to meet the objectives in the department while planning for labour, necessary training and implementation of adequate tools;
- Ensure the conceptualization and the implementation of a competency development plan for the Shift Team Leaders and the employees, and take necessary actions to allow for competency and expertise to be passed along;
- Develop a team spirit and establish a highly functional process within the department;
- Identify the workforce’s needs in the department, in collaboration with the workforce planner;
- Plan vacations and leaves with the workforce planner;
- Ensure the rigorous application of the quality policies in effect upon product transformation;
- Make recommendations for changes relative to process and ensure the sanitation and storing of the site (BPO);
- Develop a culture in the departments to meet the objectives: verify regularly the results obtained from the expected objectives and quickly take the means to correct the differentials and apply the P.D.C.A.;
- Put in place mechanisms that will guarantee the availability of raw materials and the proper functioning of the equipment;
- Ensure the objectives set by the superintendent are met;
- Take the necessary means to have optimal beginning and ending melting conditions;
- Ensure the development and improvement of the activities within the department to ensure the integrity of the continuous improvement process (PDCA);
- Monitor the raw material and energetic production costs.
- Ensure the implementation of a meticulous technical approach;
- Communicate the expectations and objectives with the Team Shift Leaders within the department;
- Ensure the company’s security policies are followed;
- Organize preventive shutdowns for peak performance within the department;
- Plan and organize activities;
- Develop fair and harmonized work relationships;
- Take part in critical situations;
- Ensure good communication within our department and create direct connection with the union delegate in the department;
- Facilitate team meetings in the department;
- Act as owner when carrying out capital projects;
- Participate in several activities from the department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- College Diploma in Operations Management or equivalent ;
- Five (5) years’ experience in operations management, in the field of food production or experience / equivalent skills acquired;
- Experience in personnel management in a union environment or demonstrated leadership skills as an operator or equivalent experience;
- Intermediate knowledge of the manufacturing process;
- Intermediate knowledge of production management;
- Bilingualism (spoken and written);
- Result, client, detail and quality-oriented and demonstrate rigor, creativity and innovation;
- Diplomatic, respectful, and honest;
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office);
- Human Resources Management skills;
- Good communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills;
- Good coaching, listening, and change management abilities;
- Keen sense of responsibility;
- Ability to react quickly and demonstrate propensity in emergency situations;
- Good team spirit;
- Good negotiating skills when it comes to the union;
- Adaptive, motivated, organized, and ability to manage several projects and competing priorities.
