Reporting to the Manager, Recreation Therapy, we are currently looking for a Term Full Time Recreation Therapist to join our Bedford team!
Responsibilities:
- Works as an interdisciplinary team member to understand, provide and uphold a person centered approach to care.
- Provides specialized, therapeutic recreation assessments, treatment plans, services, and evaluations in order to assist residents in their specific needs
- Serves as a resource both clinically and administratively to the recreation programmers.
- Mentors students from a variety of disciplines with a focus on students in recreation therapy programs
- Evaluate the global needs in the development and implementation of recreation programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation
- Certification and current registration as a Recreation Therapy Specialist
- Minimum two years' experience working in recreation a health care setting
- Experience working with a geriatric population considered an asset
- Knowledge of the following: Emergency Protocols, Risk Management Procedures, Falls Prevention Methods, Environmental Hazard Awareness, Customer and Personal Service, Education and Training, Psychology
- Strong Communication, Organizational, Interpersonal, Problem Solving, Time Management, Social Perceptiveness skills
- Must be Supportive, Empathetic/Compassionate, Ethical, Respectful and Professional
- Must have the ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly (8 / 12 hour shifts) - Days/Evenings
Effective: July 4, 2025
Salary: As per Northwood Scale
