The Opportunity:
The City of Lacombe Fire Department is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of paid-on-call Fire Captain. The Fire Captain will report directly to the Deputy Fire Chief and supervise the station duties of Lieutenants and firefighters during emergency and non-emergency situations. These responsibilities include fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and rescue operations within a paid on-call capacity. The Fire Captain will also manage the basic administration of paid on-call firefighters, engage with the community, provide public education, and assist with pre-planning efforts. This role is crucial as the Fire Captain is a public representative, building trust and delivering essential community services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NFPA 1001 Level II
- NFPA 1072 Hazmat Operations
- NFPA 1002 Driver/Pump and Aerial Operator.
- NFPA 1021 Level II Fire Officer is desired or must be obtained within the one-year probationary period.
- NFPA 1041 Level 1 Fire Service Instructor.
- NPFA 1140 Wildland Firefighter.
- Standard First Aid BLS/CPR/AED "C"
- BlueCard Incident Commander Certification is desired or must be obtained within three months of promotion.
- A minimum of 5 years experience within a supervisory capacity.
- ICS 300.
- Valid Alberta Drivers license with a minimum Class 3, 4 with “Q” endorsement
Salary: $33.28 per Hour
