About the role

Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

Position Overview:

An honours student is needed to assist with the collection of fish histology data and to complete an analysis of it. The work will involve field collection and laboratory analyses.

Duties:

  • Prepare equipment and materials for research
    • Employee will prepare sample vials for histological sampling at fish hatchery
    • Employee will complete various histological tasks to fix and mount tissues for analysis
  • Monitor and document research status and findings
    • Employee will keep notes of all work performed and data collected
    • Employee will prepare reports to document findings and methods

Qualifications:

  • Area of study should be biology or related field.
  • Student needs to be interested in completing an honours thesis in biology.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The period of work will be from July 14, 2025 - September 1, 2025 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-180 hours.
