We are currently seeking a qualified Industrial Firefighter for an upcoming project. We are looking for someone with a great attitude, who can excel under pressure to ensure a safe work environment for our clients and employees!
Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for directing firefighting activities for the provision of safe egress of personnel, controlling hazardous conditions and extinguishing fire in the event of an emergency.
Responsible for observing the activities of non-HSE personnel in the Hot Zone for the purpose of mitigating risk.
Conduct fire / shower protection services in accordance with standard operational procedures.
Perform general maintenance on fire and shower apparatus and appliances as required by the preventative maintenance program, under the guidance and direction of the Fleet Supervisor or a designate.
Maintain at minimum a valid class 3 drivers license, (class 1 would be considered an asset)
Operate company vehicles in a professional manner, in accordance to HSE policy, highway traffic laws and any rules of operation in effect on privately owned roads.
Provide on the job training / mentorship to workers on proper operation of fire truck and shower units including pre/post trip inspections and troubleshooting equipment issues
Must maintain and submit drivers log as per Hours of Service regulations
Ensure that all job-related paperwork is correctly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
Participate in meetings involving large groups of personnel that are operational, hazard identification and organizational in nature
Provide communication to dispatch for the provision of managing assets efficiently.
Return equipment upon completion of job and ensure Inspect and clean equipment upon job completion, ensure it is in job ready condition.
Conduct equipment maintenance procedures at the field level
Employees Safety Responsibilities
Be familiar with and work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
Report to HSE Integrated supervision and management immediately any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to workers health or safety
Refuse the work if danger is imminent or not controlled
Required Qualifications
Minimum three (3) years service as a Second Industrial Fire/Shower Operator or combined Industrial Safety/Firefighting experience from a previous employer, and/or successfully complete a competency assessment by the Fire Services Supervisor.
Possess a fundamental understanding of drilling, service and completion environments and a great working knowledge of associated processes.
Must be capable of operating fire pumps and all associated appliances.
Firefighting training must meet NFPA 1001 and/or 1081 standards.
Trained in high hazard operations that include, but not limited to Propane/LNG Fracturing.
Demonstrate leadership, coaching, mentoring and troubleshooting skills
Experience in the use of breathing apparatus and gas detection equipment.
Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
Working at heights and / or climbing ladders or stairs
Working in small / confined spaces
Lifting up to 50lbs
Pushing / pulling (hoses / objects)
Sitting / driving
Bending / kneeling / crouching
Standing / walking for long periods of time
Working in adverse weather environments (heat / cold) and conditions (rain / wind / snow)
Potential shift lengths 10 12 hours, should be available to work longer if client requirements demand longer shifts or schedule changes
Employee must ensure that they are staying hydrated, alert and fit for duty at all times
