The Ministry of Corrections and Policing is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and self-directed individual for the position of Deputy Director of Operational Support at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre. Reporting to the Director and as an integral part of the senior management team, you will be responsible to enhance management presence and leadership within this facility and contribute directly to improving staff performance, preparedness and accountability, as well as improved correctional practices. Your excellent communication skills will serve you well as you provide coaching, support and direction to the middle and peer senior manager teams while promoting effective and positive industrial relations in a union environment. You will provide leadership in staff training and orientation sessions, and make formal presentations at meetings on subjects pertaining to operational matters and labor relations.
Reporting to the Director, the Deputy Director, Operational Support’s key role is the provision of oversight, leadership and expertise to the development and implementation of correctional operations in a large and complex institutional setting. The position is expected to support and ensure the overall effective service delivery, policy compliance and consistent application of the Correctional Services Administration Act and Regulations and specifically as it relates to: the Pine Grove Correctional Center facility training/recruitment; operational support services (Quality Assurance/PRISM); communication security processes; and operational audits as assigned by the Director. Your post-secondary degree in a related field or comparable experience, training, and/or certification will complement your knowledge of facility management principles and practices, the purpose and framework of a collective agreement in a unionized environment and knowledge of the Canadian justice and correctional systems. Preference will be given to candidates who have leadership work experience within a large correctional centre.
