About the Opportunity
The Dietitian is responsible and accountable to provide competent, safe and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. The Dietitian advises on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors. This position is responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of the patient, client/community through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support and rehabilitation. The Dietitian is responsible to participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including but not limited to Preceptoring Dietetic Interns.
As a member of the inter-professional team, the Dietitian contributes to client care through collaboration with health care team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care and supporting a range of health care services. These services are provided within a holistic, client centered framework in accordance with our mission, vision, values, and strategic direction. The Dietitian provides specialized nutrition support to individuals with kidney disease, including those undergoing dialysis.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition required
- Dietetic Internship Program required
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required
- Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
- Experience working with patients with kidney disease, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, is considered an asset
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an assets
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting
- Current WHMIS an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, Familiarity with the Meditech considered an asset information system considered an asset
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent, Part-Time (90%), 67.5 Hours Bi-Weekly
Compensation and Benefits
$35.47 - $49.61 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
