Overview of the Corporate Finance team:

The Corporate Finance team, part of Canadian Corporate Banking, is part of BMO Financial Group and serves large corporate and private clients operating in a variety of industries. The team is responsible for marketing, managing, and monitoring large corporate loan portfolios, as well as supporting credit requirements and cross-selling efforts for other activities, including subordinated debt, equipment leasing, derivatives, cash management, and international trade financing. The team evaluates bilateral financing opportunities of at least $1,500,000.

Job overview

The Senior Manager works with an analyst to manage a portfolio of business loans, develop new clients, and ensure development with other products as part of a larger sector team that maintains strong client relationships. He or she facilitates growth initiatives for the Bank through significant business expansion and excellent customer relationship management by cross-selling other products (e.g., derivatives, cash management, corporate cards, subordinated debt, private equity, leasing, or international trade financing products).

  • Be involved in credit recommendations regarding risk, transaction structure, and client requirements. This includes working closely with the analyst assigned to them to facilitate the annual revaluation process, interim revaluations, quarterly reports, and exception resolution.
  • Quickly and accurately manage the risk of the complex portfolio assigned to them.
  • Lead and execute business expansion plans for clients.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and build strong relationships with them.
  • Research data to facilitate solutions to the needs and activities of the client or potential client.
  • Coordinate the administration and processing of services, ensuring a seamless customer experience and identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
  • Make recommendations to senior management regarding strategy and new initiatives based on in-depth knowledge of the organization or group.
  • Conduct independent assessment and analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Recommend organizational priorities, provide advice on resource requirements, and develop a roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with prescribed standards and methods, as well as the protection of the Bank's overall interests.
  • Leverage expertise and demonstrate creative thinking to manage unique or ambiguous situations and find solutions to issues that may be complex and rare.
  • Assign additional tasks or responsibilities as needed.

Knowledge and skills

  • Seasoned professional combining the required level of education, experience, and industry knowledge
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in business administration or a master's degree in another field (finance, accounting, economics, or related field), good academic results, and three to five years of relevant experience.
  • CPA, EEE, or CFA designation or other relevant professional designation or graduate degree in progress or obtained, an asset
  • Excellent quantitative or analytical skills, particularly in financial, accounting, and statistical analysis, as well as data analysis
  • Excellent computer skills and technical skills related to Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English
  • Excellent collaborative and team spirit
  • Excellent negotiation skills with clients and legal advisors
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines
  • Established business development network.

You’re fluent in French and English as this role provides support to clients and team members inside and/or outside the province of Quebec.

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
