Position Type: Permanent Full-Time

Reporting To: Facilities Manager

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Compensation: $23.29 per hour

Summary:
The Facility Rover manages accurately weighing vehicles, processing cash, debit, and credit transactions, and completing custom documentation with attention to detail as well as other tasks assigned by management.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the site compactor, weight scale equipment, as well as performing duties that require a complete understanding of the mandatory hand signals for spotting vehicles in a safe, communicative and professional manner.
  • Weigh vehicles in and out at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy of tickets and cash transactions so that they are they are correct and balanced.
  • Complete all site cash, debit and credit card transactions, as well as completing customs paperwork in a professional, diligent and organized manner.
  • Ensure entire outside grounds and the facility inside are routinely cleaned and maintained by performing regular and daily seasonal property maintenance (i.e. snow shoveling, salting, sweeping, litter clean up).
  • Perform visual inspections of loads for contamination.
  • Routinely inspect and assess site safety conditions by reporting, communicating and documenting any hazardous or potentially hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Liaise with supervisors, managers, site staff, drivers, contractors and customers in a professional and team-oriented manner whilst responding to telephone inquiries, direct calls and assist with general administrative duties, supporting other positions as required.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • A demonstrated and proven record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with the proven ability to organize and to successfully plan work tasks in order of importance and criticality to business operations.
  • Ensure that you are aware of and always work within Miller Waste Systems safety guidelines
  • Comply with all ISO procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and all Health & Safety Regulations and Policies.
  • Strong computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
  • Must be a collaborative team player, and with safe working habits.
  • In this position, there are routine occupational requirements that would require the successful applicant to stand for long periods of time and be exposed to the different weather elements; adherence to properly wearing and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential.
  • Flexibility is also required as this position may require early starts, delayed finishes, weekend work, as well as providing sick and holiday staff coverage.
  • Previous residential or commercial scale operations and cash handling experience is an asset.
  • Previous compactor experience is an asset as well as having a mechanical aptitude.
